Welcome to Captain Home Inspections. My name is A.J. Gilbert and I’m a licensed and certified professional home inspector.
I am a Chicago native with lifelong passion for building, carpentry and protecting the safety of others. As a homeowner and father, I know how much of an investment a home can be. I’m here to ensure that the home or property you are choosing is safe, with minimal surprises. I have years of experience as the Public Safety Officer and Board member of the Trout Valley Home Owner’s Association; a 250 home village in Northwest Chicago, as well as manage the maintenance and safety of several historic properties on the premise.
As the owner of Captain Home Inspection and the Inspector, I perform every inspection as if it were for my own family. From the crawlspace, to the rooftop and all possible areas in between.

Radon Gas is an odorless invisible gas that the CDC has determined to be linked to higher risk of developing cancer. We can test for Radon Air with canisters or vials that are set up for 48 hours and then sent to a lab for testing..
